The worst thing you can do in life is win(in a perfect sense). Once you win you no longer want to play.

~@oflifeandwild

There’s a primal truth that echoes through history, business, combat, and even family dynamics: never let yourself get too comfortable. Comfort breeds complacency, and complacency dulls your edge. When you lose that sharpness, that savage part of you, you risk losing everything you’ve fought for. Civilizations, companies, warriors, and even parents have learned this lesson the hard way. The moment you kick your feet up, you begin to decay. To stay on top, you must remain hungry and disciplined.

Doctors are a prime example of this. You would think having an older doctor with years of experience is the best case scenario, but you would be wrong most of the time. When it comes to doctors the best you can have most times is a doctor fresh out of med school because they are up to date on the knowledge and techniques. Most doctors stop learning beyond the minimum once they graduate. Meaning the longer they work the more out of date they likely are. Some exceptions apply. How ever, when you find the surgeons you find the savages. Surgeons are the main exception, they are constantly improving and learning and adapting and innovating because for better or worse, they are all about their win loss ratio. They also have instant feedback. They mess up and someone dies right then and there. Where as a clinician, may have to wait 20-30 years to learn he messed up if he learns at all.
